Observation details
Group in Ficus tree. At least five present at same time, with a total of 8 individuals counted throughout the listed timespan. First foraging period ended at 10:07 with three birds flew of in same direction, the rest alone and separate ways. Returned to continue feeding at 12:17. Birds would swallow figs the size of their head, though with a bit of effort. At one point a Green-pigeon, likely be of the lone males, were observed chasing away a Blue-pigeon from a clutch of fruits, jumping after it from two branches. Later, one Green-pigeon was again seen to take the feeding spot from a Blue-pigeon, who promptly left once the Green approached. Rank at the tree has become apparent after multiple observation; Blue-pigeons give way for Green-pigeons, and they in turn give way for the Fruit-bats. The latter has been spotted to briefly wave its wings, to make the pigeons retreat. However, most of the time feeding is carried out in harmony, and interspecific competition only observed when birds/bats are relatively near each other, and even then not necessarily. As mentioned, likely male pigeons who are most prone to mild aggression towards others, specifically conspecifics. However, as mentioned before, this aggression is not as pronounced as seen in some other Columbiformes. Last bird was seen foraging until 18:07
