Observation details
Juvenile found by Ervin Olsen at about 4 pm roosting with shorebirds on the eastern edge of Cook's Beach. The bird flew off with the rising tide and then was relocated by Ronnie d'Entremont east of the Melbourne Road south of Cooks Beach, about here (43.732928, -66.078880). When Paul Gould, Mark Dennis, Alix d'Entremont and Ervin Olsen reached Ronnie, the tern was flying back north towards Cook's Beach. Most of the group then headed back to Cook's Beach were Paul had it fly over him near the northern tip and head west. Paul heard the raspy and squeaky call while it flew over him. Ronnie and Mark then saw it again off the Melbourne Road at the same place and it stayed in that location until about 6:40 pm when it flew over the breakwater towards the west.
