Observation details
This hummer is VERY defensive of the feeders--of which there are 3. After a few days of being aware of its presence, we finally took a closer look and found the brilliant throat of the ruby-throated hummer. The head and body are dark green. Wings are dark--black. Neck is a dirty white and rest of the belly is a mottled dirty gray. No rufous colors at all. The tail is quite forked and has no other color on it that we can see. Fortunately I managed to get some pictures when they hummers weren't warring with each other.
