Media notes
Merlin is calling at the beginning, then a golfer swings their club, and complains about their shot.
Observation details
Two adults hanging around pine grove in center of Somerset Golf Course. Small Falcons with blue-gray backs. Striped breast. Dark under tail with white bands. Chest-heavy with tapered appearance to tail more so than kestrel. In semi open forest on golf course with scattered pines. Seemed to be an adult pair. They were calling to each other with high pitched chatter, faster sounding than a Kestrel. Audio clip captured one of the Merlins calling at the beginning of the clip in the background. At the end of the audio clip, a golf shot is heard, followed by a groan. Bad cell phone images will show profile. Was golfing, but these birds were tame and close. One was along the entrance drive later. This seemed like a pair interacting with each other on their breeding ground, or possibly reuniting on a wintering location after breeding elsewhere. Known to be expanding their breeding range south.
