Observation details
I need some more expert opinions on this bird. Originally I was leaning REPH, but now I am leaning more towards RNPH. Back is more mottled similar to RNPH, but bill and size indicated more REPH. Size more similar to nearby Wilson's phalarope than I would expect from RNPH. Bill also seems thicker, but I have no experience with REPH to be able to truly discern this and no other nearby RNPH to compare to. Bill appears to be lacking any yellow at the gape, but that could be due to poor photos. Time of year for non-breeding plumage also matches up more with RNPH, but according to Birds of the World, we are just within the molt period for REPH too.
