Observation details
16:30 - On the path decending to the third pond a large rufous coloured owl flew across the path below us into a clump of trees persued by a Yellow-billed Turaco and a Fraser's Forest Flycatcher. Very good flight views were obtained. Kalu and Brendan followed the bird into the trees and obtained excellent head on views of the bird while perched. The owl then flew into a dense tangle of trees where I obtained a couple of record shots. All were of the opinion that this was a rufous fishing owl due to size (too small for Pel's), lack of ear tufts and colouration. We left the bird in the thicket so not to disturb it further. We returned the following afternoon/evening but could not relocate the owl.
