Observation details
Well.. we all imagined this bird as a clamorous reed on the field , and did not give proper diligence. Later while reviewing the photos we had a doubt, and it was posted in some ID groups in FB and Whatsapp. First it was confirmed as Bristled Grassbird. Not very common for our area, but had some records from Uran area in the past (our friend Ashwin Mohan & Yogish Holla had observed in 2016). I had attached all the photos that I had clicked for this bird from IIT Bombay campus. However there is possibility of it being a Broad-tailed Grassbird as well which is also rare for this region. Few experts are inclined towards broad-tailed due to overall shape similar to Broad-tailed i.e. more robust than Bristled. Pradnyavant Mane, Adesh Shivkar, Swapnil Thatte, Ramit Singal suggested as Bristled. [Adesh: Then I would go with Bristled Grassbird as suggested by @PT....You can actually see a hint of striation on the back and the graduated tail (White tips to tail feathers) etc....The Broad-tailed Grassbird requires high altitude grassland to breed] [Ramit Singal: Looks like Bristled to me too. The striations in particular seem to not fit any plumage (that I know of) of Broad-tailed. Both species, to my knowledge, are equally prone to wandering about. Ashwin Viswanathan also later believed it to be a juvenile Bristled due to fine striation on the crown. Dhyey Shah, SarwanDeep Singh believed it could be Broad-billed Grassbird. [Dhyey Shah: Juvenile probably...Bristled would Have a much striking facial pattern especially the supercilium. Plus, the proportions are way different than the slender body of Bristled. I would describe this as much 'healthy-looking'.] [SarwanDeep Singh:It seems more robust structurally than a Bristled. The supercilium also seems weaker. Bill size and shape points more towards a broad-tailed, specially the pale lower mandible in non breeding plumage. The undertail pattern also seems incorrect for a Bristled. Also the rare crown on a Bristled is usually streaked, can't see any streaking in these set of images.] FB post link: https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=10158971572555910&set=gm.2405350946270264 Another discussion was going on a whatsapp group which tried to summarize in the above description.
