Observation details

Adult feeding in the mud bank of Wapato Creek o the oncoming high tide of 8.3’ at 1:24 pm. Worn breeding plumage. Face marked heavily with streaked gray, neck and upper breast orange red, but not extending on to belly or flanks. LB Dowitcher should still have red onto flanks and belly at this time of year. Markings at shoulders more like spots and not bars. When it flew it didn’t talk, but it did show its tail - white bands were wider than the black bands. Bruce and I puzzled on this bird for quite awhile.
