Observation details
CONTINUING rare bird that has returned to exactly same place (Santa Ana River about a mile east of Riverdale park) for several years, just downstream from spillway. This year bird was first seen by Trish Gussler and on this outing Cynthia Case refound this bird within a few minutes of us looking. Bird has bi-colored bill with white at base then orange and a black tip. Bird had bright orange legs and just slightly smaller than the Long-billed Dowitchers it was associating with while feeding close to burm. Otherwise, this bird would slowly wander off towards north side of river to feed by itself. Photos of bird foraging, walking, and flying will be uploaded.
