Observation details
Wayyyy out in Ellis Bay when first found, an IL bird at that point. But bird slowly worked its way closer and closer to us all on the Missouri side. Found initially and documented by the Malone's; accepted by MBRC. - Bird near dam on IL side when first found by me, way out in gull roost. - Tertial crescent broad, about twice as wide as nearby RBGulls. - Because of darker shade of blue-gray, it was actually rather easy to pick out amongst other gulls, at least in lighting at that time. - Bird stayed to itself for the most part. Gonydal red spot next to black smudge on yellow bill. Bill a bit brighter yellow when next to adult Herrings and RBGulls. - Eye clearly dark, and at times yellow eye of Herrings could be seen well. - Slim bird overall, size in between RBGull and Herring.
