Observation details
It was reported by Jory Teltser at 0945- I arrived about an hour later to find a surprisingly big number of shorebirds. Luckily they kept getting scared into flight and moved closer to the dock. A group came into the flats near the mouth the inner marsh and the Ruff stood out. It moved onto the flats to forage alone and presented views to Teale Sharon and Margaret before the flock flushed as the tide was rising here. The male has molted the ruff, leaving a head tuft at the edge where the ruff ended. A purplish sheen was detected in strong overhead light, bill was pinkish near the base, legs were a dull yellow gray. The white U-shaped rump was seen as it flew off.
