Observation details
Perched on cell tower near barn along bike path (where the Stiegel bike trail intersects with the Moosstraße connector trail). At first I thought they were black storks. Went back the following morning (7/12) and they were foraging in the fields in the same area. I could clearly see their down curved beaks and knew they were not storks! Appeared to be mostly juveniles. Did see one adult with red bill and face with black feathers fanned around it. Body black with iridescence. Juveniles duller. One bird had a blue band on its leg. Far off in field, I could only get crappy cell phone photos.
