Observation details
Continuing Cast of accipeters originally found by Willie Danna a few weeks prior. Spotted and heard first juvenile not far from nest in said location. Deciding to back off and not pressure ,I looped around the perimeter of spruce stand. Low and behold the adult was a mere 10 yards away plucking at some unlucky songbird. That's when all hell broke out and both juveniles started calling incessantly as the adult flew to them carrying food. What a show these 3 put on and I found myself awed and privileged to observe. Small accipeters a little bigger than Merlin's but obviously smaller than COHAs. Slate gray bodied with know difference in color of nape and head as is the case with the black capped Coopers. Good looks at all individuals, and obvious shorter and flat tipped tail. Photos and Audio TBA.
