Observation details
Walked the edge of marsh along both sides of the road listening for the sizzling water call but never heard anything. As I returned to the car I rolled down the window and heard the call coming from a few hundred feet into the marsh on the north side of the road. I phished and was surprised that the bird popped up and landed about 40' from the road and proceeded to run through the marsh grass until it came out of the marsh almost at my feet! It flew about 10' feet away, checked me out and then walked back into the marsh. Close views made it easy to see the buffy neck/upper breast and clear lower breast. Colors more muted than SASPs that I've seen, and call was less buzzy. Photos and poor audio. Lifer.
