Observation details
First heard singing then observed at length. Easily distinguished from other Crithagra seedeaters by dark crown and largely dark face with a narrow white supercilium. The upperparts were uniform in color, lacking the darker markings found in Streaky Seedeater and lacked the yellow rump of Reichenow's Seedeater. It had a narrower bill than a Streaky Seedeater and the underparts were only lightly marked on the breast. Although the underparts were not heavily marked, the pale coloration eliminates an extralimital West African Seedeater.
