Media notes
The bird manipulated the mussel shell behind a clump of grass, so we couldn't see any details.
Observation details
Bird first reported on 5/24/2022. It disappeared for a while but has been back for a while now. Observed above the Hill of Life dam at 30.273150, -97.833321. Large brown wader with white spots, lighter head and neck, and long decurved bill. Bird actively foraged during our observation. It moved downstream, and we left to move to the Hill of Life dam. Unfortunately, when we got closer to the dam, a man was flyfishing, working his way upstream, and the bird was nowhere in sight. The man said it flew south. We were unable to refind it south of the dam.
