Observation details
Large and lanky passerine with very long tail, thin curved bill, pale gray above, whitish below, first seen in flight across west pond, where large large white patches on both surfaces of each wing at base of primaries and the fully white outer tail feathers were both conspicuous and unmistakable. Perched in largest spruce on west bank of pond, where I got distant but recognizable photos. White wing patches still visible on folded wings, while perched, along with weak wing bars, a slight dark mask. It held that perch long enough that I got the idea to get out the scope and try to digiscope, but while I turned around to do that, the bird disappeared and was not seen again. Silent.
