Observation details
Flying loops around Harper lake. Much smaller than a Caspian Tern, and had a distinct forked tail. Christian Nunes helped identify it as a Common Tern instead of a Forster’s Tern. Key differences are the gray belly vs pure white and a red bill vs a lighter orange bill that a Forster’s would have. The general proportions of the bird also fit better with a Common Tern. Foraging for small fish along the shore of the lake. Photos by Drake Paul.
