Observation details
To my great surprise while counting a group of Mallards, one of the ducks being counted was a not a Mallard, but a Black-bellied Whistling Duck. The reddish bill, black belly and long pinkish feet with a chestnut back, neck and breast immediately stuck out from the Mallards being counted. In flight, the large white mark on the wing and its distinct call were easily seen and heard. Local birders were immediately alerted, and hopefully a reasonable photo can be obtained to secure the documentation.
