The Song Sparrow was perched just above the prairie vegetation, which was about to my shoulders at this time of year, roughly 15 feet from the mic. I reduced the gain to 4 for this recording to see if it would have less noise in post-processing. Lower gain seems to work best for clarity, but the bird is quieter in my headphones when I'm out in the field. Still learning!
