Observation details
Found by the VENT birding group in the airport pond. Small, yellow-legged shorebird. Similar to a Least Sandpiper, but overall brighter with broad warm rufous fringes to tertials and wing coverts. Split supercillium and "capped" look reminiscent of a juvenile Sharp-tailed Sandpiper. Pale lores and yellow base to lower mandible. In flight the toes extended well past the tail tip. We did not hear it call.
