Observation details

I was tempted to call this one a potentially good Colima. Singing male on northeast side of Pine Peak Lake (around 8000'). No yellow on chest like a pure Virginia's would have. Responded strongly and aggressively to playback of Colima songs and calls (usually I don't get much of any response from the Virginia's/Colima x Virginia's when I use playback). I have video which may have a recording of this bird singing. I will try to extract that audio and upload later. It will be interesting to see if spectrogram matches Colima; its song certainly seemed to match Colima rather than Virgina's and was different sound than the other Virginia's I heard.
