Observation details
WOW. two individuals approximately two miles apart. first was seen near the trailhead here (31.43151, -111.18978). first bird not seen very well but calls were recorded; a smallish ‘flycatcher’ about the same size as DCFL with a very thick but short bill, appeared very large-headed; when in flight short tail had rusty color; looked gray from brief views which made me think it was a male but determined later in the day that it was a female; proportionately large head. It was repeatedly giving loud, high-pitched, descending seeee! starting at around 5:55 until around 6:00; was able to record one of its call notes before it went silent and disappeared. Second bird was also female located here (31.41118, -111.19509). This one was much more cooperative and allowed for some photos. No nest-building or other signs of breeding were observed
