Media notes
Calls, in late afternoon (almost dark in the canyon), of a bird in an Arizona Sycamore (just across the creek) that had potential nest cavities. It would turn out to be the nesting tree (as we learned the next morning). These calls were given when a couple of Acorn Woodpeckers were in the same tree; they were chased out. Background includes a Hermit Thrush singing in the distance. Recorded using a Fostex FR-2LE with a Sennheiser ME62 & Telinga Universal 22" parabola.
Observation details
Called shortly before dark, seemingly chasing two Acorn Woodpeckers away from its nest tree
