Observation details
*rare, but conditions seemed right for this species to fly over. First Kyle picked up a raptor with a group of bwha moving west away from us, both of us suspected a kite but views weren’t ideal. A few min later we noticed a group of bwha back low over the dunes, at which point 2 kites were seen streaming north allowing for scope views of both at the same time, then 1 made a closer pass at the north end. This species was reported over Staten Island not long after we lost track of ours, perhaps the same bird(s). Raptors with long narrow wings, square tail, dark gray overall with paler head, photos to add.
