Observation details
This group buzzed by me at a low altitude. I only viewed them from behind, and my initial thought on the ID was either AMGP or BBPL based on the size, but after a few seconds and a few photos, I quickly wrote off these possibilities. While these birds were roughly the size of AMGP or BBPL, they possessed long, decurved bills that are clearly visible in my shots despite only photographing them from the rear. Had I seen them coming, I would’ve gotten fantastic looks since they flew right by me. Alas, I caught them just after they passed me by. Fortunately, I still managed to obtain decent shots that should confirm the ID-I can’t think of any other shorebird that would be this size and possess a decurved bill. I checked the marsh just north of where I viewed them in the hopes that they would land there, but it seemed that they were steadfast in their journey. Photos attached.
