Observation details
Found by Steve Mirick, and many thanks to Steve for sticking around and helping us get on it! Comically large head even for a Caprimulgid, with thin streaks scattered across brownish crown. EWPW typically has streaks aggregated into a centralized crown stripe and plainer gray lateral crown regions. Rictal bristles are proportionally much shorter and than those of EWPW - the anterior ones are especially inconspicuous, barely extending past the nostrils in profile. The whole bird was covered in warm hues other than the white collar and silvery scapulars. Possibly female-type as no white patches were noted in the tail.
