Observation details
Continuing and well-studied singing male. Photos and audio recordings. Roughly size/shape of YBCH. Underparts like YBCH, with orangeish-yellow throat and breast constrasting with whiter belly and undertail. But black bill thinner and more pointed than YBCH (but not as long and pointy as orioles). Head pattern more blended than YBCH, with yellow coming up around the gray auriculars and onto the nape. Black lores like YBCH but thinner black area. White supercilium more diffuse and blended than YBCH and extending behind the eye: the effect was more a whitish eye ring, expanded at the upper rear, and not the strong white undereye arc of YBCH. Crown was greenish with black flecks, with a gray upper nape and greenish lower nape. Back and wings more like an oriole: blackish (not brownish like YBCH) and with whitish edges on primaries, secondaries, tertials (with thicker edging), and coverts. One short white wing bar, and scaly scapulars with black centers and gray edges. Very vocal and obvious, singing mostly in the open, and not skulky like YBCH. Moved between several perches that it kept returning to. Song like YBCH with perhaps oriole-like chattering intermixed.
