Observation details
Non-breeding adult male. Songlark with long legs, large bill, and dark brown parch on belly. First eBird record for Darwin LGA/County in 36 years. Previous records are 1983 at Leanyer Swamp and 1986 at Holmes Jungle. In same area that has turned up Gouldian Finches, Rufous Songlark, and Red-backed Kingfisher this dry season. This bird continues the incredible influx of inland birds to coastal Darwin this dry season. Seen along the edge of the grassland next to the woodland "triangle" between the grassland and CDU. Worked along the edge in short grass before flushing up to sit in tree next to grassland for a while. Then flew down into the long grass where it disappeared out of view. Christy Davies and James Lambert both came to see it. John Rawsthorne refound it again later in the day.
