Observation details
Medium/small sized tern with very long white tail, upper sides of wing were uniform gray, underside of wings were white except for the primary tips which were a dark gray, flight style was very buoyant, and wing beats almost seemed delayed. Flight style was noticeably different than that of COTEs which I’m more familiar with. Gray belly, breast, and neck contrasted sharply against white cheeks. Bill was red and did not have a black tip. Bill appeared shorter and thinner than what would be expected for COTE. Very short legs observed when perched. It was still present flying around when I left at 8:30.
