Observation details
Observed at the S tip of the island in Pond 1 among a few bathing Black Skimmers. Maneuvered to the opposite end of the pond for a different view (10x42 bin) and blurry photos. Medium-sized gull with full black hood and white eye crescents. Dark gray mantle, blackish legs and relatively larger size distinguish it from a Bonaparte's. Blackish leg color distinguished from red legs displayed by adjacent skimmer. Bill relatively long, dark red, droop difficult to detect from photos. Extensive black on upper and lower wing tips distinguishes it from a Franklin's.
