Observation details
This bird was sitting on a sandbar with 5 Caspian Terns when we first located it. We at first thought it to be a small tern but the silhouette showed the bird to have a very small head and long wings. We were able to view the bird in flight and immediately noticed the white triangles on the wings along with the dark back and darker primaries. The tail was short and slightly forked with a black bar on the end. We watched the bird for about 5 minutes before it flew over the MS River bridge and out of sight traveling south. This bird was unmistakably a young Sabine's Gull.
