**excuse me. Very rare away from the immediate coast, and habitat here is...less than ideal. Continuing bird, delighting and baffling many on the central BP lawn. Large rail with long, orange-based bill, cold gray tones overall, muted coloration, black flank patch with white stripes. Not as colorful or contrasty as KIRA. Frequently cocked tail revealing black-flecked undertail. One of the weirdest birds I’ve ever seen, contentedly feeding on the lawn and lazing within feet of observers. Photos tba
