Observation details
Bill Young and I saw this small raptor land over our heads on the NE ridge of the park and eat a House Sparrow for about ten minutes. I initially thought it was a Sharp-shinned Hawk when it flew in, based on its size. When we looked closer, we identified it as a Merlin based on the tail length/pattern, weak mustache, and dark iris.
