Media notes
Amazing experience with a very cooperative tachuri. Tried some playback in a small patch of lower bushes and scrub surrounded by long grass and a bird came in almost immediately. Quietly at first, all I could hear were the whirring sounds of its wings in flight (Cut 1). After a while, it started to flight displays (00:08.0, 01:00.0) in which it would take off on a gradually steepening ascent giving little calls as it ascended. Right as it began its descent from the flight's apex it would let out very loud wing buzz before dropping to a new perch. In Cut 2, it does this two times before perching up and doing the display in rapid succession while perched. Cut 3 - is the continuation of that display started in Cut 2 (I move closer). Cut 4-5 I believe are its calls but I'm not completely sure now. Cut 7 and 8 are more flight displays.
Observation details
Amazing experience with a very cooperative tachuri. After having tried playback in a few scrubby savanna areas, I tried playback in a promising looking small patch of low bushes and scrub surrounded by long grass in a wide open grassland. A male came in almost immediately.
