Observation details
These birds are rare in our region and this is the first time I have seen more than two together. One of these birds I assessed as being juvenile or immature from plumage characteristics of wing coverts/tertials. The greater secondary coverts are short and pale tipped, whilst the lesser and median coverts are much smaller than those of an adult. It also appears that the shorter or outermost tertials are yet to emerge. These birds were in a young patch of bananas during daylight hours and were reliably found there for some weeks after this. I assume these birds bred here or somewhere nearby.
