Observation details
Continuing from yesterday in same spot; NW corner of large grassy/brushy field. Streaky, chunky sparrow with unbroken eyering, pale cheek patch, breast streaking, white outer tail feathers seen well in flight and occasionally while on ground with tail slightly splayed. Occasionally could observe chestnut shoulder patch when wind ruffled its feathers. After flushing initially from short grass beside path, flew to same nearbye pitch pine tree as yesterday and perched conspicuously on a branch. After a few minutes it flew back to ground, making its way from short grass up onto sandy ground where it foraged and gave good looks. Was not very shy. At one point it flew in short flights close around me, checking me out. Oddly the side of it that it rarely had facing me seemed to be marred with a black patch/splotch that extended around eye and cheek patch. Cropped digibin pics.
