Media notes
Cropped image of flanks, undersides, and part of tail. Colors were more subtle than in the image, which was taken at dusk, and thus shows higher contrast.
Observation details
Flushed from a large field of broom sedge at dusk. Excellent looks showed distinct wren shape, straw-colored buffy coloration overall with darker, barred wings (no reddish scapulars), and buffy eyestripe (with less contrast than a Marsh Wren). Flew twice, displaying distinctive, insect like flight. Called two or three times, with dry, single staccato notes, followed by rapid fire, machine gun like cadence, rather than consistent chit notes of a Marsh Wren. Photos were difficult to take, due to light conditions, movement of the broom sedge, and secret nature of the bird, which showed for about two minutes.
