Observation details
Easily viewed from car. Since the Oregon Vesper Sparrow is a sensitive species, and the property on either side of Sauerkraut Road is private, I felt is was really important to stay with my car and to make sure it was out of the way of passing farm vehicles, and to keep out in the open away from buildings. I was also careful not to linger too long. Next time I’m going to wait 10 days before posting a checklist for these birds to avoid it triggering other birder’s needs alerts. This was suggested to me as a way to keep the area from getting too much birding traffic all at once. I’m told that these birds should continue singing at this site through May.
