Observation details
Continuing birds. They were mostly sitting and preening on the rocks, making multiple short flights out over the water when disturbed. I believe that all three birds were juveniles as they all had varying incomplete white caps as well as some pale fringing on the wing coverts. They all appeared to be slightly different ages (none of them appeared to be obviously moulting). One bird had a white supercilium with the crown being mostly dark. The second bird also had a white supercilium with a little white beginning to come through on the crown. The third bird had an incomplete white cap, cut off just behind the eye, with some brown feathers showing in amongst the white. All three birds match the description of juvenile Common Noddies in HANZAB as well as the illustrations on plates 45 and 46.
