Observation details
Am attaching two recordings of a group of 3-4 chickadees feeding in a tree with their usual acrobatics. Merlin keeps IDing the call as black crested titmouse but this is a chickadee call. I heard it frequently with west coast Black Caps when feeding their young. No young today (and I could not find any titmouses in this tree). So maybe this is a more generalized chickadee feeding contact call. In the first recording they are calling very quietly and constantly with 4 descending notes. In the second, more loudly and the descending call is up to 8 notes, mixed up w the chick-a-dee type call.
