Two or perhaps three adults(?) making social contact. BNA:"Wuk" Calls are heard. CZ 08/03/2004 [The vocalizations here represent both slow "Wuk Series Calls" and songs or fast "Wuk Series Calls" as described on p. 420 of Short (1982. Woodpeckers of the World. Delaware Mus. Nat. Hist. 4:1-676). Slower series are given at 0:09-0:13, 0:14-0:15, 0:20-0:22, 0:26-0:27, 0:32-0:34, 1:06-1:09, 2:07-2:13, 2:30-2:34, 2:50-2:51, and 2:57-3:11 (the latter one somewhat atypical), and fast series are given by the close bird at 0:40 and 1:29, and by a distant bird at 1:14. There is a "cryptic" stop-start 1:07. Quality unchanged (2 - approaching 2-1 in places) - CAM - 6 May 2005]. Habitat: Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Creek, Pond.
