Observation details
Adult male continues. Characteristics intermediate between Blue-winged (spotting on breast and sides, bluish gray crown and face) and Cinnamon (red irides, red on face and throat, red wash on white flank patch). Was associating closely with a female Cinnamon today. I attempted to study the bill on this bird today but wasn't terribly successful as it spent most of its time foraging. The bill seems, however, to be slightly less spatulate than the female's and perhaps a tiny bit shorter as well. Differences were subtle and given the propensity of both birds to keep their bills underwater I can't say my efforts bore much fruit.
