Observation details
Found by Sage Church, continuing; photographed extensively. Small gull with beautiful black underwings, white trailing edge to both under and upper wing, light grayish interior on upper wing, more rounded wingtips than Bonaparte's or other gull species, tiny bill, small black cheek dot. Foraging over Lake Whitehurst along the western edge of the botanical gardens, best viewed about a quarter mile north of the entrance road on one of a pair of peninsulas that look west over the lake. It spent about 45 minutes doing laps around the gull flock foraging over the lake, giving up incredible views throughout.
