Observation details
SY female at nest. First heard calling when I whistled a Guatemalan Pygmy-Owl imitation; I then went to search for the nest and found it. Quite a bit of calling (recorded). Male not seen, but at some point the female had a prey item (Plain-capped Starthroat?) that she didn't have before, so possibly brought to her by the male. She plucked it and then brought it to the nest, presumably to feed nestlings, although I couldn't see or hear any nestlings. Female sexed by size and aged by retained juvenile outer primaries. Nest in pine tree (Pinus oocarpa). Tree height estimated at 22 m; nest height estimated at 18 m.
