Observation details
Continuing bird seen here since December 2021 when found on a Christmas Bird Count. Smaller than nearby Spotted towhees, about the size of nearby juncos. Grayish head, with contrasting light yellowish beak with dark tip. Orange upper breast, shoulder, and light orange/buff spotted flanks, whitish belly, dark back and wings. Several brief looks as bird came out to grab corn on the porch railing, then flew back to nearby bushes. Sat in bushes for a while as we jockeyed for better views. Group of ~10 birders saw the bird. Poor photos.
