Observation details
Singing! A beautiful gentle warble somewhat like a purple finch but more rich and deep throated. I have never heard this before. Though it was about 100 yards distant I got a passable recording offered here. Obviously there was at least one male though none of these were in breeding plumage yet. When singing, the birds were in a dead tree with some of the Snow Buntings, then a couple came down to the ground to feed on the spilled oats on the RR track in the yard of the grain silo
