Observation details
At least one observed from the canopy tower. Initially LNK spotted a bird distantly in the emergent canopy, which upon photo review showed was a Purpletuft. This bird came no closer and soon we noticed that it had departed. Maybe half an hour later two smallish, short tailed birds flew low over the canopy tower. Only seen clearly by DJB, it was suspected they were Purpletuft so we began some playback. We were overjoyed when we spotted one perched in an open tree above us. It had clearly arrived in response to the playback but had not vocalised and despite its proximity we could have easily overlooked it. It remained perched here for around five minutes before heading off into the forest.
