Media notes

Flight call, adult. Excessive noise from insects in surrounding undergrowth as well as noise from the nearby river. Original length between flight calls kept as much as possible except for a few bits of noise clipped out.

Observation details

Lifer. Spotted an individual (likely an adult) gliding down along the river valley, rough estimate at around 200-300 feet overhead. Noting its broad wing and spread-out tail, initially thought to be S. holospilus as the harsh light precluded gaining any meaningful detail of the underwings, but its flight calls were different, just a simple weeek-wik! phrase repeated about 50secs apart. ID was ascertained post-checklist after outside consulation using the recorded flight call compared with macaulaylibrary.org/asset/38604
