Observation details
Came here to poke around for NOPO as this seems to be a consistent spot. Heard toot calls from trees about 10 minutes after starting this list and after a whistled imitation one bird flew to the top of a dead Ponderosa pine and continued calling. Quieted after GHOWs started calling but remained perched in the treetop. After watching for a few minutes a second individual flew into the same tree just below the first bird, but I lost track of it soon after. The first bird stayed put in the tree, and I was able to get digiscoped photos and video from the road out. Will also upload audio Update: Photos and audio added. Audio recorded seemed distinct from the toot calls I first heard, maybe slightly higher pitched? I’m pretty confident it’s still NOPO though as it is heard at a consistent interval and appears to match calls from Cornell Labs. BirdNET did not pick it up, but the background TUSW may have drowned it out.
